Japan's highly celebrated commercial airliner.Produced by the Nihon Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation, the YS-11 took its first flight in August, 1962. By the time the aircraft was certified two years later, the first production aircraft were already being built. In March, 1965, All Nippon Airways became the first major airline to add the YS-11 to its fleet. The last YS-11s were constructed in 1974, but it remains the most successful commercial airliner produced by a Japanese corporation.
